Aburame Shino is a Genin of Konoha who uses insects as his main weapon. He is in Genin team #10, with Kiba and Hinata. His clan, the Aburame, have a pact with insects, which reside within their bodies and help them in times of trouble.

Akadou Yoroi is a Genin of Otogakure (the Hidden Sound), under the guise of a leaf ninja. He has a power, possibly a bloodline limit, which enables him to steal chakra from enemy shinobi.

Akamaru is Inuzuka Kiba’s dog, and usually, partner in missions. Kiba and Akamaru have several techniques which use both of their talents. One of these is beast-human henge, where Akamaru transforms into a replica of Kiba, so it’s hard to tell them apart.

The Akatsuki Leader is the one pulling the strings or Itachi, Kisame, Deidara, Sasori, and the other Akatsuki. It’s his goal to attain the powers of all the Youma (tailed beasts), and he’ll stop at nothing to attain this. It’s rumored that he has some connection to the Yondaime Hokage, but as yet it’s still uncertain.

Akimichi Chouji is a Konoha Genin from team #8 with a big appetite. His attacks are mostly size-based, utilizing his ability to burn off more calories in a short period. He’ll increase his size, then roll at his enemy at high speed. Some of his cloak-and-dagger abilities lie in three top-secret pills used only by the Akimichi clan, which offer the user unparalleled power, but destroy the body soon after.

Baki is the Sunagakure Jounin in charge of Gaara and his siblings. It’s he who receives orders from the Kazekage, and relays them to the Sand trio, who act out the Kazekage’s will.

Chiyo-Baa is a Suna Council elder, and also is Sasori’s grandmother. Although old, she has a few tricks up her sleeve, and can fight just as well as any other shinobi. She and Sakura battle together against Sasori, who proves to be more than they can handle.

Dan was Tsunade’s boyfriend, but due to a lack of proper medical training in the field, he died in the war. His dream was to become Hokage.

Deidara is a former Iwagakure (Hidden Stone) ninja, who now works in Akatsuki. He’s assumed to be male, though it’s hard to tell. His attacks are based on exploding clay which he creates from mouths in the palm on his hands. He alone took on Gaara defeated him, returning with him to the Akatsuki hide-out.

Ebisu is Konohamaru’s private tutor, and a specialized Jounin. He’s very strict when it comes to tutelage, but he’s susceptible to Naruto’s “Harem no Jutsu.” He later agrees to teach Naruto privately before the Chuunin exam finals, but Jiraiya teaches Naruto instead.

Enko ou Enma is the Sandaime Hokage’s “helper” in times of trouble. He is brought forth using Kuchiyose (summoning) no Jutsu, and can transform into the mystical Nyoibo (battle staff) from the Eastern legend, Saiyuki. He can also make kagebunshins, which together can create a temporary protective cage for Sarutobi. Enma sometimes has a rotten attitude, but when Sarutobi’s in trouble, he’s always ready to help.

Gamabunta is the great frog of Konoha, and about the size of a Youma. He is summoned by Jiraiya, the Yondaime Hokage, and eventually Naruto, who uses the Kyubi chakra to summon him. Gamabunta carries a short sword and smokes a pipe, and doesn’t like brats like Naruto, but Naruto starts to eventually grow on him.

Gatou is a ruthless businessman who has set his sights on Nami no Kuni (the Land of the Waves) in order to expand his shipping empire. He hires Zabuza, a former Kirigakure Jounin, to take out Tazuna the bridge builder, who is the only person in Gatou’s way. Eventually Gatou turns on Zabuza, who kills him for insulting him.

Gekkou Hayate is a sickly-looking Konoha Jounin, who judges the “3^rd round” Chuunin exam preliminaries. He catches representatives from Suna and Oto who are devising a plot to destroy Konoha, but is caught and killed before he can report his findings.

Godaime Hokage Tsunade is one of the Sannin (three ninjas) who were students of the Sandaime Hokage when he was at the peak of his ability. Tsunade excels at medical jutsu, and is called the “Slug Princess” by Chiyo-Baa because of her summoned creature, a giant slug. Tsunade has an irrational fear of blood due to the trauma of losing her brother and the man she loved, both in combat. She is also the granddaughter of the Shodaime Hokage.

Haku is Zabuza’s assistant, and a former hunter-nin from Kirigakure. He uses senbon (acupuncture needles) to fight, and uses them as well as shuriken. His bloodline limit is an array of ice mirrors which surround the enemy. Part of the technique uses teleportation to transport him from mirror to mirror, while he strikes at the enemy with brutal accuracy.

Haruno Sakura is a Konoha Genin assigned to team #7, along with Naruto and Sasuke. She has a crush on Sasuke, but doesn’t have the courage to tell him until the night he leaves Konoha forever. Sakura excels at genjutsu-countering techniques and is a total bookworm, as demonstrated from her mastery of the written portion of the Chuunin exam, which were meant to completely stump anyone under mid-Chuunin level.

Hatake Kakashi is the Jounin in charge of Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto. He never shows his face, always wearing the mask shown here. His left eye was destroyed in war when he was young, and due to unique circumstances, he was given the eye of his dying teammate, who happened to be from the Uchiha clan. Hence, Kakashi has a single Sharingan eye. Kakashi is also a former member of the Anbu (elite ninja assassination team), and excels in hunting down anyone and anything. He also has a special technique, Chidori, which utilizes raw chakra at high speeds and decimates the enemy with it.

Hoshigaki Kisame is a former Kirigakure ninja who now works in Akatsuki. He wields the huge sword “Samehada”, which can absorb chakra. His attacks all work around water techniques, and his style is similar to Zabuza’s, but more advanced. He holds a grudge against Gai-sensei, who delivered a powerful kick just as Kisame was about to strike at Kakashi.

Hyuga Hiashi is Hinata’s father, and head of the Hyuga clan. Neji resents him because of what happened to Hizashi, Neji’s father.

Hyuga Hinata is a shy girl, and the heir to the Hyuga clan. She has a secret crush on Naruto, but Naruto isn’t sharp enough to notice. She takes the blunt of Neji’s anger when he fights her during the Chuunin exam preliminaries, and almost dies. She is in Genin team #10, along with Shino and Kiba.

Hyuga Hizashi was Neji’s father, and Hiashi’s twin brother.. When Sinobi Gashir came to Konoha to work out an alliance treaty between them and the Hidden Cloud village, he (Gashir) broke into the Hyuga house late at night and tried to kidnap Hinata. Hiashi killed him, and so the Cloud nation demanded Hiashi’s corpse. Hizashi offered to die in his brother’s place, since Hizashi’s bloodline limit would be sealed in dead, thanks to a curse seal placed upon him and Neji, symbolizing their status in the Hyuga branch house.

Hyuga Neji is the son of Hizashi, and Hinata’s cousin. The Hyuga bloodline limit, Byakugan (white-eye) and their signature Jyuuken (gentle fist) chakra-manipulating martial arts style is shown most thoroughly in him. He mastered the Hakkeshou Kaiten (Divine Cyclone) and Hakke Rokujyu Yonshyou (64-palm strike) by himself, proving to be the most advanced member of the Hyuga house.

Inari is the son of Tsunami, and Tazuna’s grandson. He gets mad at Naruto because of Naruto’s carefree attitude, and says that there’s no such thing as heroes, because he himself witnessed his father’s execution at the hands of Gatou.

Inuzuka Kiba is a Konoha Genin assigned to team #10, along with Hinata and Shino. His attacks, are dog-based, and Akamaru helps him out in most of his techniques. After battling Naruto in the Chuunin exam preliminaries, Kiba becomes more willing to take heavy risks to achieve his goals.

Jiraiya is one of the Sannin personally trained by the Sandaime Hokage, and is also a self-proclaimed “super-pervert.” He uses frogs to do his bidding (in battle), and trains Naruto from time to time. His one weakness is women, as proven when Itachi and Kisame use a beautiful woman as bait to lure him away from Naruto, their target. Though he seems to be a simple-minded pervert, Jiraiya really is an experienced ninja, and was once offered the position of Hokage, though he refused, suggesting Tsunade instead. Jiraiya was also the Yondaime Hokage’s mentor.

Jiroubou is one of Orochimaru’s elite Jounin from Otogakure, who uses techniques similar to Chouji’s. He relies on a curse seal to use powerful attacks, and his “level 2” state uses raw strength to tear enemies apart.

Kaiza was Inari’s “father” (no blood relation), and once saved the village he lived in from a flood. He also stood up and protested Gatou’s actions (presumably by doing something to sabotage Gatou’s company), and was put to death by Gatou’s henchmen for it.

Kidoumaru is one of Orochimaru’s elite Otogakure Jounin, and has (presumably) a bloodline limit dealing with spiders. He has six arms and uses chakra mixed with sweat and other body fluids to make webs and blades. He uses a curse seal in tough situations, and his “level 2” state opens up a third eye in the middle of his forehead. He can also shoot chakra-web arrows while in his level 2 state, and fights with blinding precision.

Kimimaro is the leader of Orochimaru’s “Sound’s Five”, and has a bloodline limit where he can grow, reattach and disconnect his own bones. By far the strongest of the five, Kimimaro sees fit to tell the others what to do, and threatens them with death if they argue. Always calm, he fights “because he exists”, and because he idolizes Orochimaru.

Kinuta Dosu is a Genin of Otogakure, sent to kill Sasuke. When he learns that Sasuke has been given a curse seal by Orochimaru, he is puzzled by Orochimaru’s intentions. He is later killed by Gaara.

Konohamaru is Sarutobi’s grandson, and idolizes Naruto. He is named after the village of Konohagakure.

Kyubi no Youko is the Nine-tailed demon fox that is sealed inside Naruto. This creature has almost infinite power, and for the good of the village it was sealed inside Naruto when he was a baby, by the Yondaime Hokage. When Naruto’s in life-threatening danger, the Kyubi lends some chakra to him.

Maito Gai is the Jounin instructor in charge of Tenten, Neji and Rock Lee. His attacks are based on physical martial arts, though he does have some astounding Ninjutsu techniques. His most powerful technique is Asa Kujaku (Morning peacock), which can only be used if the forbidden technique “Hachimon Tonkou” (Eight celestial gates) is used; Gai must open six gates to use Asa Kujaku. He uses it on what seems to be Kisame, but is really an Akatsuki minion in disguise, killing the minion instantly.

Mitarashi Anko is a Jounin of Konoha, in charge of the second part of the Chuunin exam. She was also once Orochimaru’s student, until he abandoned Konoha. She has a curse seal but doesn’t use it; when she notices Orochimaru’s presence in the Chuunin exam, she does everything in her power to try to stop him, but still fails.

Mizuki was a Chuunin of Konoha who used Naruto to obtain a forbidden scroll from the Hokage. Naruto eventually realized what was going on with Iruka’s help, and defeated him using roughly 1,000 kagebunshins (overkill).

Momochi Zabuza was a missing-nin from Kirigakure who was hired by Gatou to kill Tazuna the bridge builder. He uses a giant cleaver-sword and is an expert at silent killing. He kills Gatou after Gatou turns on him, and dies from the wounds he takes from Gatou’s minions.

Morino Ibiki is the head of the Anbu squad, and a specialized Jounin from Konoha. He is in charge of the first part of the Chuunin exam.

Nara Shikamaru is a Konoha Genin (later a Chuunin) from team #8, along with Chouji and Ino. He’s lazy and unmotivated, but is also a genius. He’s the only Genin in the Chuunin exam who actually becomes a Chuunin, and because of this, he gets selected to lead a genin team to retrieve Sasuke from the “Sound’s Five.” Shikamaru uses shadows as weapons, with the Kagemane no Jutsu (Shadow bind) as his main technique.
